Dateline Normandy -- While S was preparing to settle in for a calm Saturday evening chez lui, conspirators were at work, planning anything but a night of tranquility. In fact, C arranged a surprise (if a tad delayed) birthday party for the old man of the house and 20 or so good friends poured through the gates of Chateau Blanc and into the house for the big event, totally catching S off guard. And so the celebration began with cases of chilled champagne at the ready and catered food delights for the masses. C had arranged everything to a T, so to speak. And it was only after the "grownups" had left for the evening did the music beat and volume pick up and the salon floor cleared for dancing by the bubbly-fueled crowd. Being a family blog, The Normandy Chronicles will refrain from reporting all the very sordid details of the very, very late partying, but suffice it to say that the celebration featured as much champagne on the dance floor as in glasses, peacock feathers for some strange reason were found in some very strange places and, well, as mentioned above, some of this staff's reporting has been censored to protect the innocent and well as the guilty . (Editor's note: no animals were harmed during the event though Gaston is still nursing a fatigue hangover after the mega-decibel music kept him up way past his bedtime -- and probably all the local villagers too). Overall, la grande fete won't be soon forgotten in these parts, at least not by one grateful if not even more deaf old hoot. For more censored photos of the crime scene, see:
Other pics are currently being held as evidence by the Limesy volunteer police force. ~30~
