Dateline Normandy --
Sadly we announce the loss of Chateau Blanc's biggest, oldest and most
handsome tree. Probably about 300 years old, she just keeled over right
before our eyes, with an explosive impact that shook the house.
Fortunately she fell on the horse field (no horses harmed) and not the
other direction onto the neighbor's house where she would have done some
significant damage. On the bright side we'll have firewood for years
and possibly carve out a nice outdoor dining table. Au revoir, ole gal. ~30~

Steve- if you can handle it, bring some wood with you to SC. Christopher does beautiful bowls/tops, etc. on his lathe and he'd be glad to turn something for you (think nut bowl or salad bowl or wooden platter/plate or tops for Perry to play with). I know this may not even be possible with weight restrictions. If so, maybe someone in Normandy works with a lathe and can turn something? So sad for the tree. The boys were really surprised.
All the Best,
Sarah
