P sports the German lid...
The GI hat with original netting
Dateline Normandy -- From the T's point of view, it was the deal/steal of the year. Two roosters and some old shutters for an American GI WWII helmet and a German WWII Infantryman lid. The short? story: The T's buy a dinner table from antique store owners at flea market. Owners deliver table to Chateau Blanc and after some aperitifs, the T's propose selling them some of their furniture they were looking to offload. They come back a week later to pick up the items and show S the helmets they had at their store after seeing his collection. They propose the two casquettes in exchange for two roosters who have been on Chateau Blanc's `death row' for being overly aggressive with the hens. Included in the deal were shutters the T's had taken down when they replaced some windows and thrown into the mix was a giant shank of Serrano ham as one of the store owners is originally from Spain. So it looks like the T's will have to host a lot of aperitifs in the near future so that it doesn't go to waste. Quel dommage. Gaston even got in on the deal by stealing a whole foot-long baton of sausage and downing it on the spot. So everyone walked away happy - even the roosters who received a pardon and can now finish out their days waking up their new owners in Brittany. ~30~
