Perry Gets Crown But Gaston's Coup d'Etat Ensures He's Tabbed `King'

Dateline Normandy -- As is tradition in France, New Year's means Gallette du Roi, a very flaky pie usually with almond filling that you find in every bakery, including ours of course. C bought a small one for us this morning which we cut into in the afternoon with a little caffe latte chez nous. In each gallette, a small ceramic figurine called the ``feve'' --meaning ``bean' '-- is baked inside, so the one who gets the slice with the feve is pronounced `King' or `Queen' and gets to wear the paper crown that comes with the gallette. C and I ate two pieces each, with neither of us getting crowned, so with one slice left, we figured it was only right that Perry gain the right to wear it. That's when the Sly One, Gaston, quickly stepped in and made his grasp for the throne, successfully taking down the last slice, feve included. A kingdom divided, it appears, so we guess it's King Gaston and Prince Perry. No prizes have yet been decided for anyone finding the feve later somewhere in the garden.....~30~
