T-Day Wins Over Normandes; Locals Give Thanks for Holiday Turkey Feast; Relation of Sweet Potato Casserole Remains Mystery

Les girls....

Dateline Normandy -- T-Day appeared to be a winner with Anne-Sophie and hubbie Cyril, as well as with Guillaume and Catherine as we hit 'em with all the trimmings. The bird was succulent and the green-bean casserole was very popular, while the stuffing got a mixed reception. The sweet-potato casserole was well received and the cranberry sauce didn't stick around for long. C got things started right with an artichoke-spinach dip served with some well-chilled champagne and the main course was accompanied by some respectable Chateauneuf-du-pape. To take us to the finish line, homemade Derby and Key Lime pie were downed by a few, though many of us, in the American tradition, were bustin' at the seams and called it a day after the second and third helpings of turkey. The T-family did their best to explain how most of the chow served had nothing to do with the real Thanksgiving but after a few coupes de champagne, no one really cared. S decided not to bring up the whole American Indian massacre history, sparing our French guests an hour of his pontificating, while the T's enjoyed the lively after-dinner debate between Cyril and Catherine on whether soccer was a sport "des plucs,'" or redneck sport. All in all, a great evening with friends and we reckon the start of a nouvelle tradition in Normandy. ~30~

Cynthia, your table was incredibly beautiful! I am sure the food was equally wonderful.
